Auto-aim
The lock that keeps the gun pointed at a target's centre of mass while both vehicles move.
Also known as autoaim, lock on, soft aim.
Auto-aim tracks a spotted target and aims at the middle of it. That is exactly what is wanted while circling a heavy tank at ten metres, and exactly wrong at range, where the middle of a vehicle is usually its thickest armor.
It also drops the lock the moment the target is unspotted, so it cannot be used to track something through cover.
