Premium ammunition
The higher-penetration round available on nearly every gun, bought with credits and named after the days when it cost gold.
Also known as gold ammo, gold rounds, premium rounds, prem ammo, gold spam.
Premium rounds are usually APCR or HEAT, offering thirty to sixty millimetres more penetration than the standard shell and often no more damage. They cost several times as much in credits, which is the whole balancing mechanism behind them.
They were once purchasable only with gold, the paid currency, and the name stuck long after they became available for credits. The debate about them is unresolved: they let a player answer armor they could not otherwise hurt, and they let anyone bypass the armor that a heavily armored vehicle is built around.
Firing them constantly is expensive enough to lose credits on a Tier X battle, so a normal loadout mixes them with standard rounds rather than replacing them.
