The 112MC theme is based on my Dad's WW2 unit, the 112th Cavalry. They have the distinction of being the last US Army unit to see horse mounted combat. This was in Burma in early WW2. The horses turned out to be mostly useless in jungle warfare and so the unit became "mechanized". They didn't get much "Mech" so fought the rest of the war as Infantry. After the war they were re-designated as the 49th Armored Division based in Irving, TX.
