Camouflage
A vehicle's concealment value, which shortens the distance at which it can be spotted.
Also known as camo, concealment, camo value, camo rating.
Camouflage is a percentage that is taken out of an observer's view range. A vehicle with strong concealment facing a 400 metre view range might only be detected at 250, and the same vehicle standing in the open at speed is seen much further out.
It is not a single number. It changes with what the vehicle is doing:
- Standing still conceals better than moving
- Firing the gun applies a large penalty for a few seconds
- Larger vehicles conceal worse than small ones, class by class
- A camouflage net, the camouflage crew skill and a paint scheme all add to it
Light tanks and some tank destroyers are built around it, and it is the mechanic that lets a vehicle sit 200 metres from an enemy and remain invisible.
