The Skaraborg Regiment of Sweden began in 1613, when units from Skaraborg joined the grand regiment of Västergötland. It became an independent unit between 1621 and 1624, and won battle honors at Lützen, Leipzig, Warsaw, Lund, Landskrona, and Malatitze. Made an armored regiment in 1942, today it is equipped with Stridsvagn 122 tanks [Swedish-modified Leopard 2A5].
The 2nd Skaraborg Armored Regiment is a North American clan named in its honor.
