# Tomato

A player whose rating sits in the red band, at the bottom of the colour scale.

Also known as red player, potato.

The [colour scale](/glossary/rating-colors.md) runs from red through orange and yellow to green, blue and [purple](/glossary/unicum.md). A player in the red band is a tomato, and potato is the same idea applied to a specific play rather than to an account.

It is used more casually than it deserves. Most accounts sitting in red are new, or are one account shared with a family, or belong to someone playing three evenings a month, and the label says nothing about any of that.
