# Tier

A vehicle's rank from I to X, which sets its power level, its battle tier spread and everything about its economy.

Also known as tiers, vehicle tier.

Tiers run from I to X in the [tech trees](/glossary/tech-tree.md), with a Tier XI progression sitting above X for a few branches. Each step up brings more [hit points](/glossary/hit-points.md), more damage and better [armor](/glossary/armor-thickness.md), and a two-tier gap is large enough that the lower vehicle cannot fight the higher one directly.

Tier also decides costs. Repairs and [ammunition](/glossary/shell.md) scale steeply, so Tier X loses [credits](/glossary/credits.md) without a [premium account](/glossary/premium-account.md), and it decides which [battle tiers](/glossary/battle-tier.md) a vehicle is pulled into.
