# Tank destroyerTD

The ambush class: high penetration and damage from a fixed or limited arc, usually with strong concealment and thin sides.

Also known as TD, tank destroyers, sniper.

Tank destroyers deal the heaviest [damage per shot](/glossary/alpha-damage.md) in the game and are the least able to defend themselves once caught. Most have no [turret](/glossary/turret.md), so anything that reaches their [flank](/glossary/flanking.md) is unanswerable.

They play from [concealment](/glossary/camouflage.md) down a covered lane, or as armored [assault](/glossary/assault.md) vehicles at the front of a push, depending entirely on which branch they come from. What they share is that they need somebody else to [spot](/glossary/spotting.md) for them.
