# Ranked Battles

A seasonal Tier X competitive mode where players earn and lose chevrons based on their position in their team at the end of a battle.

Also known as ranked, chevrons.

Ranked runs in seasons on [Tier](/glossary/tier.md) X. Winning earns a chevron, and the top performers of the losing team can keep one, so the mode rewards personal placement inside the battle rather than the result alone.

That scoring changes how it is played. Because the ladder reads your rank among your own fifteen, players push for damage and kills in situations where a random battle would call for a safer play, and the mode is known for it.
