# Pubbie

A player in the public queue, used to distinguish random battles from organised clan play.

Also known as pub, randoms player.

Pub is short for public: the open queue anyone can join, as opposed to a [clan](/glossary/clan.md) format where the fifteen players are chosen and briefed. Pubbie is its inhabitant.

The word usually carries an implication that nothing can be coordinated, which is what makes [random battles](/glossary/random-battles.md) and [Clan Wars](/glossary/clan-wars.md) two genuinely different games.
