# Proximity spotting

The rule that any vehicle within 50 metres is spotted regardless of concealment, as long as line of sight exists.

Also known as proxy spot, 50m rule, proximity spot.

Inside 50 metres [camouflage](/glossary/camouflage.md) stops mattering. A vehicle in that radius is detected as soon as anything can see it, which is why driving past a [bush](/glossary/bush.md) line reveals whatever is hiding in it.

[Scouts](/glossary/light-tank.md) use this deliberately: a fast pass through a suspected position lights everything in it for the team, at the cost of being lit themselves.
