# Premium tank

A vehicle bought rather than researched, which earns extra credits and trains any crew of its nation without penalty.

Also known as premium vehicle, prem tank.

Premium vehicles sit outside the [tech trees](/glossary/tech-tree.md). They come fully upgraded, they earn a credit bonus over a comparable researchable vehicle, and a crew from any vehicle of the same nation can be moved into one without the usual [retraining](/glossary/retraining.md) penalty.

That last point is what they are really used for: a premium at the same [tier](/glossary/tier.md) is the standard way to train a crew and to fund the vehicles that lose [credits](/glossary/credits.md). Most sit at Tier VIII, where the credit earning is best.
