# Platoon

Two or three players queuing together and placed on the same team, coordinating by voice rather than by map ping.

Also known as platooning, toon, squad.

A platoon enters the queue as a unit. The [matchmaker](/glossary/matchmaking.md) mirrors it on the other side where it can, but the advantage is not the composition, it is that three players who are talking to each other arrive at the same place at the same time.

It is the single largest lever on [win rate](/glossary/win-rate.md). A strong three-player platoon can decide a [flank](/glossary/flanking.md) in the first two minutes, which is why a platooned win rate and a solo win rate are read as different numbers.
