# Personal RatingPR

Wargaming's own rating, shown in the game client and on the portal, which grows with the number of battles played as well as with performance.

Also known as global rating, wg rating, PR.

Personal Rating, also called Global Rating, is the only rating the game itself displays. It combines [battles](/glossary/battles.md), wins, damage, [frags](/glossary/kills-per-battle.md), [spotting](/glossary/spotting.md), capture and defence into a single number normalised across the whole server.

Battle count is part of the formula, not just a confidence factor, so the rating keeps climbing as long as an account keeps playing. That makes it a fair measure of a career and a poor measure of skill: a patient average player will pass a strong player who plays half as much.

This is what community ratings were invented to replace. [WN8](/glossary/wn8.md) and [WNX](/glossary/wnx.md) deliberately drop the volume term so two accounts with very different battle counts can be compared directly.
