# Optics

The two view-range equipments: coated optics work always, binoculars give more but only after three seconds standing still.

Also known as coated optics, binoculars, binocs, binocular telescope.

Coated optics add [view range](/glossary/view-range.md) at all times, moving or stopped. A binocular telescope adds considerably more, and only once the vehicle has been stationary for three seconds, which is exactly how a [passive scout](/glossary/passive-scouting.md) plays anyway.

The choice is therefore between a vehicle that keeps moving and one that sets up in a [bush](/glossary/bush.md). Both bump into the 445 metre [spotting](/glossary/spotting.md) cap, so on a vehicle that already has strong view range the gain is smaller than the number suggests.
