Also known as illumination flare, flare point. It replaces the [Comms Center](https://unicum.gg/glossary/comms-center.md) after dark, and the reason is the night itself. On a night map everyone sees less far and hides better, so vision that used to be handed to a team wholesale is now aimed: instead of [spotting](https://unicum.gg/glossary/spotting.md) the enemy team wherever it is, the flare illuminates one area of the map that your team chooses. What it does there is two things at once. Every enemy inside the lit area is spotted, and while they are lit they take 10% more damage. The area stays lit for 25 seconds and shrinks as it burns down, so a flare is a window rather than a state: it is worth firing over ground your team is already shooting at, not over ground it hopes to reach later. It is not a secret weapon either. Both teams see the flare in the sky, its position and size on the [minimap](https://unicum.gg/glossary/minimap.md), and which side it belongs to, so the side being lit knows it is lit and can leave. That is what makes it a timing tool: the flare is only worth its cooldown if the damage lands inside the window it opens. ## See it on the site [Onslaught ladder](https://unicum.gg/players/onslaught.md)[This map](https://unicum.gg/eu/maps/steppes.md) ## Related terms [Point of interestA position on an Onslaught map that a team captures to unlock a tactical skill, rather than to win the battle.](https://unicum.gg/glossary/point-of-interest.md)[Comms CenterThe Onslaught point of interest that spots enemy vehicles for the team holding it, wherever they are on the map.](https://unicum.gg/glossary/comms-center.md)[OnslaughtA seasonal seven against seven Tier X mode with role-based abilities and a rank ladder that resets each season.](https://unicum.gg/glossary/onslaught.md)[SpottingMaking an enemy vehicle visible to your whole team, which is what turns a position into a target.](https://unicum.gg/glossary/spotting.md)[CamouflageA vehicle's concealment value, which shortens the distance at which it can be spotted.](https://unicum.gg/glossary/camouflage.md) [Every World of Tanks term](https://unicum.gg/glossary.md) ## Navigation - [unicum.gg](https://unicum.gg/index.md) - [Discord](https://discord.gg/Hqbfb8YPbU) - [GitHub](https://github.com/unicum-gg/unicum.gg) ## Indexes - [llms.txt](https://unicum.gg/llms.txt): the API, the MCP server and the other machine-readable surfaces. - [llms-full.txt](https://unicum.gg/llms-full.txt): the same, with every endpoint's parameters inline. - [sitemap.md](https://unicum.gg/sitemap.md): every section of the site, down to the individual pages.
