# Lower front plateLFP

The strip of hull armor below the upper glacis, usually the flattest and thinnest part of a vehicle's front.

Also known as LFP, lower plate, lower glacis.

The upper front plate is normally thick and steeply sloped. The lower one sits closer to vertical because the vehicle has to drive over things, so it is where most frontal shots are aimed.

It is also the part a vehicle can hide. Parking behind a low obstacle, [angling](/glossary/angling.md), or simply pointing the hull slightly away covers the lower plate and forces the shooter onto [armor](/glossary/armor-thickness.md) they may not defeat.
