# Efficiency ratingEFF

The first widely used community rating, built from account averages and long since replaced by WN7 and WN8.

Also known as EFF, efficiency, eff rating.

Efficiency [combined damage](/glossary/combined-damage.md), [frags](/glossary/kills-per-battle.md), [spotting](/glossary/spotting.md), capture and defence into one number, weighted by [tier](/glossary/tier.md). It was the standard for years and is still quoted by older players and older mods.

It rewarded volume statistics that a patient player could [farm](/glossary/farming.md), which is exactly the criticism that produced [WN7](/glossary/wn7.md), and then the per-vehicle approach of [WN8](/glossary/wn8.md). It is kept here because the word still turns up, not because anyone should be measured by it.
