# Damage per gameDPG

Damage per game: the average damage dealt per battle, the most quoted measure of personal output and the one most sensitive to which vehicles are played.

Also known as DPG, average damage, damage per battle, avg damage.

DPG is total damage divided by [battles](/glossary/battles.md). On a single vehicle it is directly comparable between players, which is why it is the number quoted when someone claims a tank is good or bad in their hands.

Across an account it compares nothing on its own. A [Tier](/glossary/tier.md) X heavy deals two to three times the damage of a Tier V, so an account average mostly reports which tiers that player likes. Per-vehicle ratings exist to correct exactly this.

It also ignores everything that is not damage. A [scout](/glossary/light-tank.md) that [spots](/glossary/spotting.md) for 4,000 damage and deals 800 reads as a bad game unless assistance is counted alongside it.
