# Camping

Holding a safe position far from the fighting, which is sound play for some vehicles and a way to lose slowly for most.

Also known as camp, sitting back, kemp bush.

A [tank destroyer](/glossary/tank-destroyer.md) covering a lane from [concealment](/glossary/camouflage.md) is doing its job. Fifteen vehicles doing it at once is how a team loses without ever being outfought, because ground taken by the enemy is [spotting](/glossary/spotting.md), position and time they get for free.

The word is usually an accusation, and the distinction it misses is whether the position contributes: a camped vehicle that covers a chokepoint is useful, one that covers an empty corner of the map is not.
