# Assault

One team attacks a single base, the other defends it, on a shorter clock.

Also known as assault battle, attack defence.

Only the defending side has a base, and only the attackers can capture it. The clock is shorter than a [standard battle](/glossary/standard-battle.md), and time expiring counts as a defensive win, so the attackers must commit.

It is the most asymmetric random-battle objective: the defender's job is to [trade](/glossary/trading.md) time, the attacker's is to break a prepared position before it runs out.
