# Ammo rack

The module holding a vehicle's shells, which slows reloading when damaged and destroys the vehicle outright when it detonates.

Also known as ammunition rack, ammo rack damage.

A damaged ammo rack roughly doubles [reload time](/glossary/reload.md) until it is repaired. A destroyed one kills the vehicle instantly regardless of remaining [hit points](/glossary/hit-points.md), which is the fastest way any vehicle dies.

Some vehicles are notorious for it because the rack sits behind thin [armor](/glossary/armor-thickness.md). Carrying fewer [shells](/glossary/shell.md) does not help, but a [wet ammo rack](/glossary/directive.md) directive or a well-timed repair does, and knowing where an opponent's rack sits is a standard part of knowing their [weak spots](/glossary/weak-spot.md).
