# Aiming circle

The circle drawn around the crosshair showing where the next shell can land.

Also known as reticle, aim circle, crosshair.

The circle is the visual form of current [dispersion](/glossary/dispersion.md). It expands when the vehicle moves or the [turret](/glossary/turret.md) turns, contracts as the gun settles, and its radius on the target is what a shot is actually gambling on.

Reading it is a core skill: a circle narrower than the enemy's turret is a shot worth taking, a circle wider than the whole vehicle is a [shell](/glossary/shell.md) spent on nothing.
