# Advances

The fifteen against fifteen Tier X Stronghold format, where clans attack each other's bases in scheduled events for a larger share of resource.

Also known as fort battles, advance.

Advances is the full-size [Stronghold](/glossary/stronghold.md) battle. Fifteen against fifteen on [Tier](/glossary/tier.md) X, run as an event over several days, with [clans](/glossary/clan.md) attacking and defending directly rather than queuing for a ladder.

It sits between a [Skirmish](/glossary/skirmish.md) and [Clan Wars](/glossary/clan-wars.md): the same fifteen-player commitment as a campaign, without holding territory on a map, and it is where clan strength is most visible over a short window.
