Rodowód jednostki bezpośrednio związany jest ze zmaganiami wojennymi 4 Brygady Pancernej, której formowanie rozpoczęto w sierpniu 1944 r. Działania bojowe rozpoczęła 16 kwietnia 1945 r. Sukcesy militarne osiągnęła walcząc w rejonie Budziszyna i Drezna. Swój szlak bojowy zakończyła 10 maja 1945 r., biorąc udział w operacji zwanej „praską” w rejonie Mielnika, niedaleko Pragi. 4 Brygada Pancerna sukcesy militarne osiągnęła walcząc na podstawowym jej sprzęcie, jakim były czołgi T–34.
