Vz. 68 Squall Als Reaktion auf das westeuropäische Programm lufttransportfähiger Spähpanzer erwog die ČSSR verschiedene Optionen bewaffneter leichter Fahrzeuge. Der vielversprechendste Ansatz war eine Version mit Zwillings-Maschinenkanone im Kaliber 30–57 mm, die Granaten mit verbesserter Durchschlagskraft nutzen sollte. Ursprünglich sollten diese Panzer auch amphibisch einsetzbar sein, dies wurde aber zugunsten gesteigerter Panzerung hinten angestellt. Der Schwerpunkt lag auf Beweglichkeit und einer kleinen Front, die das Überleben des Fahrzeugs auf dem Schlachtfeld sichern sollte.
