Antecedent Regiments - 43rd Ox and 52nd Bucks Light Infantry, 60th Kings Royal Rifle Corps and 95th Rifle Brigade - with anti tank killing history during WWII.
1st January 1966 The Royal Green Jackets (RGJ) was formed - 1st February 2007 they merged into The Rifles. As they were used as shock troops and marksmen, they had to get to the front line of battle as fast as was possible; as a result the RGJ marched at 140 paces per minute whereas other regiments march at just 120.
This clan is formed as a tribute to the memory of this great regiment.
I served as a Rifleman from 1974 and left as a Warrant Officer in 1993.
